Project Walk

Connor's life has been changed dramatically since September 2014 but his goal in looking after his body has not altered. He believes if he does nothing to promote his recovery he almost certainly never will. Thankfully, there is a similar school of thought out there in the rehabilitation world; The Dardzinski Theory. This is based on intensive exercise regimes that target an individuals paralysed limbs to retrain the nervous system to respond appropriately.

This theory is the underlying principle of Project Walk (www.projectwalk.org), a revolutionary recovery centre based in the USA, focusing on regaining function through exercise. Project Walk staff fight for their clients to get all the function that they can, and Connor is fighting that fight with the help of all who have donated, organised and supported events. Connor spent an incredible six weeks training.

The knowledge, expertise and positive attitude of the staff provided Connor and Rachael (his sister who travelled with him) the base training in the exercises that are crucial in recovery. They were both taught the principles that form the basis of his current regime at home: a daily intensive schedule that has helped improve Connor's mobility and with all the benefits that exercise brings, a greater sense of wellbeing.
